on inertia
inertia is defined as the natural tendency of an object to reject any change (in its state of motion). why the hell is it so pervasive in all walks of life!
when you find yourself wanting to not get up, not do the dishes, not move, and fuck over your future self, you're being inert. of course, there is always more to it than that; you might have just finished a 12hr work shift, you might have worked tirelessly the past few days, but, more frequently, you probably have not. the idea here is to be honest with yourself. if you find it difficult to be honest with yourself, you really need to change something man. 😭
but yes, inertia, inertia is EVERYWHERE. here's a thought that I thought of a while ago: contentment or satisfaction (for lack of a better word) cannot exist without having to overcome some form of inertia. there's no fun without resistance!
don't aim to never be inert, aim to spot inertia and revolt against it while being honest with yourself about what's good for you. put yourself in such situations where you know you will face inertia, where you will definitely have an opportunity to resist it, even just a little. i like to think of this as some sort of muscle as well, that gets stronger (or more capable) everytime you train it. very antifragile, i like it.
